(Some Of) Our house

moving house and developing our new home has implied numerous a trip to Habitat, Homebase, Laura Ashley, Cath Kidston and of course lots of antique furniture stores and raids of my mother’s family heirlooms (thanks Mum).

Kitchen-diner!

Now the painters have finally left, it’s really taken shape-a trendy mix of the old with the new from Lloyd Loom antique chairs and a re-upholstered chaise longue my parents gifted us to dynamic habitat hanging lights and hand carved locally sourced coffee tables with original paintings and artwork my mum and I have purchased at exhibitions, from art dealers or pieces by local artists over the years.

Local artist Rosemary Abrahams’ vibrant contemporary oils with pastels feature a lot in my home, along with originals and prints of nudes by various artists.

Paintings, family photos and lots of flowers makes a home!…And antique crystal decanters, substantial vases, floral jugs and teapots too of course!

And we love it!

Each weekend has seen us invite pals (as below with mates Rachael, Richard and their family) over to delight in our new surroundings- we are so lucky to live in a picturesque village in Yorkshire, 20 minutes away from either Harrogate or Leeds city centre with staggeringly stunning views from our window.

We neglect open countryside, a farm, pretty horses graze nearby which we can feed and a pretty river runs round the close to us (meeting at a staggeringly pretty ‘beach’ five minutes walk from the house. We also have a pretty park, cricket fields, tennis courts and a boules around the corner- it really is ideal for our little family.

Getting a ride from the kids!

I’ve not had chance to take photos in every room but I’m sharing a few the spouse and I have taken of the lounge and kitchen, the latter, a bespoke fitted kitchen which sold the house to us on first view and which is my dream kitchen in fact! It is there we spend many of our time, cooking, eating, laughing and entertaining of course.

I adore the black and white tiled floor too and the kitchen storage goes on forever and round the corner too where a utility area is hidden away-ideal!

Along with the adjoining conservatory playroom, the kitchen is the most dynamic place in the house with yellow worktops and bright red fitted blinds. The other rooms in the house are all cream (almond white) with either gentle pastel pink or blue and turquoise features, a mellow haven for us all…

Hopefully when we get round to it, I will share much more of our home with you!

I hope you like our house!?
